　　亚运千寻（searching）

　　The 1st Asian Games were held from March 4 to March 11, 1951 in Delhi, India. Originally scheduled to be held in 1950, it was postponed until 1951 due to delays in preparations. A total of 489 athletes from 11 National Olympic Committees competed in 6 sports.

　　Although Japan was barred from the 1948 Summer Olympics in London and was not invited to the founding meeting of the Asian Games Federation, it was allowed to compete in the inaugural Asian Games.

　　Officially opened by President Rajendra Prasad in the Dhyan Chand National Stadium.

　　第一届亚运会于1951年3月4日在印度新德里开幕。本届亚运会原定于1950年举行，因筹备工作的延误，向后顺延一年至1951年举行。来自11个国家的489位选手共进行了6大类运动的比赛。

　　日本既没有参加1948年伦敦夏季奥运会，也没有成为亚运会联合会的创会会员，却获得参赛资格。

　　第一届亚运会的开幕典礼安排在戴亚昌德国家体育场举行，由印度首任总统拉金德拉·普拉萨德正式宣布新德里第一届亚洲运动会开幕。
